The Godzilla Adventure

Blake and I don't go and see very many movies in the theaters. We usually just wait till it hits Red-Box and just rent it then. That is, unless we have a gift card or there is a movie we really are absolutley dying to see. A few days before Saturday, Blake kept talking about Godzilla, and how good the reviews were. I could tell he really wanted to see it. Usually I get excited about anything if he is excited about it,  but for some reason, I did not feel like watching a city being torn apart by a giant monster. Since I love Blake sooooo much, I agreed to go and see it. Actually, I will be honest, I was in it for the popcorn. I made him promise to get me the biggest popcorn, that way we could get a refill on the way out.

The movie was really well done, at least for what it was, it had some really awesome shots, and a pretty good story line. I am not a huge fan of that genre, but it was pretty entertaining. About two thirds through the show the screen turned off, the lights turned on, and a manager for the movie theater appeared and started apologizing. He then motioned for a man sitting behind us to come down.

Apparently the man was very sick, I don't know if he was sick already, or if the movie made him dizzy. He had sent someone (probably a family member), to go and get help, that is what the manager was doing there.  Right when he stood up he started vomiting, and I mean throwing up everywhere. Unfortunately it covered the back of our chairs. I immediately handed him my beloved popcorn bucket, and he continued to throw up (a lot) in it,  on his way out. His family rushed out after him. I felt so bad, and really hope that he is doing okay now!

I pointed out to Blake that I had throw up on my jacket, so I wiped it off, with a napkin and we walked out so I could wash my hands. After I washed my hands we discussed just leaving since the movie still hadn't been turned on. I really was all for leaving early, I didn't care to finish the movie out, but I knew Blake really wanted to see it, so we decided to stay. When we walked back in the Manger announced that we would all get free movie passes! I was so happy! :) Chick flick here Blake and I come!

During the brief intermission, they had a clean up crew come in to wash and sanitize the whole area, that  was unlucky enough to get vomited on. When the movie finished, blake went to the bathroom only to find out that he had throw up on the back of his shirt. I felt so bad for him you could tell he wanted to shrivel up and die.

I quickly called my sister Shantel who luckily lived only a couple minutes from the movie theaters we were at. I asked if Blake could borrow a shirt from her husband David.  They were on their way home and would get there a couple minutes after us. It was such a blessing that they live so close and are always so willing to help. The plan for the day was to go to Draper then Salt Lake and I really didn't want to have to add an extra 40-50 minutes onto our day just to drive home and get a spare shirt. Shan was so awesome to help.

It was so good to see Shantel, David, and of course Lydia! I even got to try on this gem, that was hanging out in Shantel's garage for no apparent reason. :)

After the quick stop at the Peaden residency we headed off to Draper. We are in the market for a rug, and or, a tv stand. The new RC Willey just opened so we thought we would look around there and maybe find something that we could purchase over memorial day, if they put it on sale. Alas, we had no such luck at RC Willey.

The next stop was fish-4-U, in Salt Lake. One of our favorite saltwater shops. Since it is so far away from us we can only make the trip to it on Saturdays. We have been talking about and planning on getting a new tank for quite some time. Blake has been really nervous about a larger tank breaking through our condo, 2nd level floor, but I am not to worried about it. After talking to the the guy there and with each other we decided on purchasing a 90 gallon aquarium. It is way bigger than the 30 gallon we currently own.

The two gentlemen that helped us the whole time were so awesome. They even stayed open an extra 20 minutes, I felt bad and kept apologizing we were there so late.

I am beyond excited for the aquarium, and it is taking all of my self control to muster up enough patience to wait till we have it set up. We are going to build the stand and piece the rest of the equipment together slowly. I just can't wait till I have a giant aquarium in my living room. It will be so cool.

Just as a random note to throw in at the end of this post. I really love french braids. I have been practicing on myself but I just can't seem to get it right. Blake is such a great husband because he could tell it was really hard for me to do, so he decided on his own he was going to learn.

Here are some of his tries, I forgot to take a picture right when he did it, so they sort of fell apart towards the end of the day.  Never the less I was pretty impressed!

Branding 2014

Every year at the end of May it is branding time. My Grandpa Walker owns a Ranch in Wyoming, and every year family and friends gather to help brand.

Last Saturday May 3rd was my grandma's birthday so even though we usually brand at the end of May, they decided to brand on that day, since we all would be up there celebrating with her anyways!

The Friday night before that when Blake and I got off work we went to the Quarry and met up with my twin brother Matthew who has recently moved down to the area, and his roommate David. It was their first time in a long time, if ever sport climbing, and it was fun to share that part of my life with my twin brother.

Right when I started rock climbing I took Matt bouldering a few times, but he soon left on his mission so for the two years straight that I climbed he was out teaching the gospel. Matt was a fast learner and actually very strong for not climbing a whole lot! It was really fun to have them there. Blake and I have loved getting back into it from our three month climbing break.

After that we drove up to Morgan to stay the night, then drove up to Wyoming the next day! I was so happy that Dan Wakeham, our good family friend who recently got back from his mission, came and helped us brand. :) He was visiting my family that night and lucky for him we convinced him to come.

The morning of branding was an eventful one. I just loved how Blake did everything! I was kind of nervous how he would react to it, since it is a very different experience. For the first little bit I just did the paper work, and Blake loaded the tattoo gun for my dad. I tried to take pictures of Blake but I think he started to get sick of it. I am still going to but them up here though. :) This is him with the tattoo gun (if that is what it is called).

Dan also was a champ! It was cool to have him up with our extended family since we all feel like he is apart of our immediate family anyways.

I also love Jacob in this picture. :) He is so cool!

After doing paper work, it of course was time for me to get in the shoot and wrestle with some cows. Blake got in with me and it was a blast, I guess if getting kicked and thrown around by cows is a blast. :) It was a great experience to have blake help me out. He just jumped right in there and if a cow needed to turn around he would make it. He did a great job, and definitely impressed me.

Since the cows were much smaller than last year my legs were not as beaten up and bruised as they usually are after a day of branding. I just had one big bruise on my knee. This is just a picture of it the day of, the following days it turned a very unpleasant brown/yellow color.

I was also filthy, I am sure everyone there was just as dirty as I was, but for some reason everyone kept telling me my face was really dirty! Maybe it is because I am so white the dirt just showed up better. This is me and blake right after we got done, with a layer of dust on our faces.

After we branded we had a party for my grandma out in their backyard. It was so awesome the effort that my Aunt Kim and I am sure all my Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, put into making it a very special day for my Grandma Walker, and she definitely deserved it. She is the most caring person in the world, and even if she isn't feeling her best she always makes it to every one of the big events in my and my relatives lives. She is a remarkable woman, and has been an example to me every day of my life.

Red Rock

I absolultey love the outdoors, and lucky for me summer is finally here! I felt like I was stuck in an eternal winter until it hit me one day. I was walking across a small stretch of grass into my work. The grass is usually convered in snow, or brown and muddy, then overnight, as I was walking into work the grass was vibrant green and the flowers on the side of the building were blooming. I couldn't help but get over whelmed with happiness! Warm weather, here we come. :)

Blake recently started a new job at a company called Disruptive Advertising. It has been a really good change for him and a great opportunity for our family. :) one of his coworkers, John Thuet has some climbing gear so Blake and him made a plan to go climbing with Carli, John's wife, and I.

I was really nervous since it was the first time we would be climbing outside since last summer, but I was really excited at the same time! :)

We ended up going to an area that John had been to before, it is located in Draper. Blake and I drove up there after work to met up with the Thuet family and there cute little pit bull Nykes, at the wall.

Apparently really wealthy men I am assuming dentists, discovered and developed the area. It was the nicest crag I have ever climbed at. The hike up to the wall had a lot of switch backs so it was a nice, not very energy exerting walk up the hill. When we finally got to the top there are several benches along the wall! I thought this was awesome! Usually you just end up sitting on a rock, on your climbing pack, or in the dirt. I forgot to take a picture but I pulled on off the internet. Sadly this picture is during the late fall, so it doesn't reflect the full green trees that were there on the day we went.

The wall has mostly beginner level climbs, which I was thrilled about since I am so out of climbing shape. At the base of all the climbs there was a small plaque with the name and rating of the climb. The reason I say it was probably developed by a dentist was because the climbs are all named after dentist related things. The easiest climb on the wall was called baby teeth, and another was called gingervitis.

It was really good to finally get on real rock! I love the feeling of being out of breath and terrified while leading. The view from the cliff was amazing and definitely worth being afraid, it looked out over draper and since it is still spring it was so green. :) It felt so good to be outside in the beautiful weather!

Later that night we went to Blake's work for a little get together, pizza, ping pong, and Mario Kart racing. I was nervous because usually I am terrible at Mario Kart, but I got picked to be on the Thuet's team (the couple we went climbing with) and John just happened to be pro, we dominated every round. :) I also beat Blake in a few games of basketball, the little game where it times you, and you have to make as many shots as you can! I rubbed it in Blake's face so bad. After beating him so much in everything I could't bring myself to play ping pong with him, since he is a ping pong master, and would beat me for sure!

It was a really good day all around. It was fun to meet all of Blake's new co-workers and their spouses, and it was so nice to go climbing outside. My goal by the end of the summer is to be able to lead 11's without being terrified outside, I am just crossing my fingers that I actually accomplish that goal :) Here is to many more outdoor adventures this summer. :)
